Checking on Each Other: Relating Risk Assessment to the Fire Service

Objectives and Summary:

This webinar will explore confidentiality, completing a risk assessment and how to intervene from three perspectives (a fire fighter, peer support and a licensed clinician.) It will review the importance of showing up for one another by paying attention to cues, how to be more present for one another and how to improve how you show up for yourself. We will explore different interventions and approaches in completing risk assessments, determining needs and responding appropriately based on the conclusion of the assessment. Participants will review critical steps to completing a risk assessment and learning in depth detail about why each step is important and what the goal of each step is. Participants will learn strategies on how to reach out for additional support without breaking contact if needed and how to complete a safety plan. Presenter will share personal outreach experiences and answer Q&A. Updated IAFF resources will be shared.
