Join Lindsay Longo from IAFF Headquarters and Jeff Gauthier from Local 215 Milwaukee as they discuss recovery in the fire service and life in sobriety. This discussion will delve into learning how to help brothers and sisters navigate decisions to get and stay sober, and discuss tools that can be used to help those in early recovery. This discussion will also include how to navigate the stressors of the upcoming holiday season and share ideas of self-care practices beneficial to not only maintain sobriety but to also set up effective boundaries.

Lindsay Longo, LCSW

Behavioral Health Specialist, IAFF HQ
Lindsay Longo is a Behavioral Health Specialist at IAFF headquarters. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the fire service. Previous to her appointment to the IAFF, Lindsay owned her own private practice specializing in first responders, trauma and neurodivergence. Lindsay was a firefighter with IAFF Local 1311 for 11 years. While in the fire service, Lindsay desired to help her fellow first responders in a different way and pursued her dream of becoming a therapist.

Jeff Gauthier

IAFF Master Peer Support Instructor
Jeff is a 22-year veteran of the Milwaukee Fire Department, having served in the ranks of fire-fighter, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Lieutenant. Jeff recently retired after serving 13 years as a Lieutenant. Jeff served on the Milwaukee Fire Department Peer Support Team for over 12 years. In 2016 he began working for the IAFF and became a Peer Support Master Instructor. Jeff is now the IAFF 5th District Representative for the Standing Committee on Behavioral Health.

Hannah Elmore, MSW

Sr. Clinical Outreach Coordinator
Hannah Elmore is the Clinical Outreach Coordinator for the IAFF Center of Excellence through Advanced Recovery Systems. Hannah works with first responders through connection to behavioral health resources, providing education, and offering support. Hannah educates on behavioral health topics pertaining to the fire service and first responder communities to departments, peer teams, families and clinicians. Hannah is a certified IAFF Peer Supporter.
