The purpose of this event is to provide continuing education in behavioral health matters for fire service professionals. This presentation “Addiction in the Fire Service” will address various types of substance use disorders and addiction experienced among fire fighters, paramedics and dispatchers. This webinar will provide insight into signs and symptoms of substance abuse and addiction, as well as resources to find help for oneself or a peer.
Molly Jones, LSW, a Clinical Coordinator for the IAFF Center of Excellence, will be joined by Milwaukee Fire Department Lieutenant Jeff Gauthier. Jeff is a 20-year veteran of the MFD and is an IAFF Master Peer Support Instructor. As a fire fighter in longterm recovery, Jeff is a leader of the IAFF’s Online Recovery Meetings, which provide support, accountability and connection to members across the U.S. and Canada who want to live without alcohol or drugs.
