Understanding Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and OCPD in the Fire Service

Objectives and Summary:

Join Dr. Brunilda Late, Emergency Medicine and Addiction Specialist Physician from the IAFF Center of Excellence and Hannah Elmore, Clinical Outreach Coordinator from the IAFF Center of Excellence on a webinar focusing on the epidemiology of OCD and OCPD in the fire service. This discussion will include the intersection between the two diagnoses, the assessment, and the comorbidities. Dr. Late will share from her experiences treating fire service members at the IAFF Center of Excellence, discuss the specific challenges of these mental health conditions and strategies/medications to help individuals living with OCD/OCPD to manage their symptoms in their daily lives. Dr. Late will take questions from the audience to ensure all attendees get their questions answered.

Dr. Late is board certified in Addiction and Emergency Medicine. She graduated with honors from George Mason University. She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine while being a full-time mother of two children. She finished Emergency Medicine residency at Hershey Medical Center and then worked as an EM physician. She takes pride on her work as a physician, helping others in their most difficult moments of their life. She has worked at IAFF COE for three years.

Hannah Elmore, MSW

Sr. Clinical Outreach Coordinator
Hannah Elmore is the Clinical Outreach Coordinator for the IAFF Center of Excellence through Advanced Recovery Systems. Hannah works with first responders through connection to behavioral health resources, providing education, and offering support. Hannah educates on behavioral health topics pertaining to the fire service and first responder communities to departments, peer teams, families and clinicians. Hannah is a certified IAFF Peer Supporter.
